Congratulations to Lance B., our new SPL. Special thanks to our outgoing SPL, Stuart B. of a job well done.
Wow!! What a trip. If you missed it you missed a great trip. If you were there, you will remember it forever!
The following are a few "teaser" photographs from the trip. All adults and Scouts, if you took pictures and are willing to share them with the Troop, please burn a CD or DVD and give it to Tim Shannon at the next Troop Meeting. Time is of the essence as we wish to put together a special album for Bill Barber. Be sure to check back for some of the great pictures air show pictures ASM Hawes got with his new camera. More pictures added 4/12/08, thanks Mr. Hawes. No thirty.
Opening Screen at the Museum IMAX!
Right after this shot, he waved and puffed smoke!
A private place to watch the air show from. The Fire Department invited us to watch from their tarmac, up close and personal, and no crowds.
Notice who is in the truck. If we had sound, you would hear the siren!
The Pensacola Naval Air Station Tower
One of our new Patrol Leaders, Patriot Patrol ready to fly! He is not tired. The stooped over posture is forced on you by the equipment he is wearing.
One of our new Quartermasters
Ready for the show!
Buddy Check! 10, 9, 8.......
The United States Coast Guard keeping an eye on
things. The Scouts are running around without shirts.
Notice how ASM Shannon is dressed. At last, not in troulble!
Sand Trap, par 4 with a left dogleg
Thanks to the personnel of Big Lagoon State Park for pulling our bus out of the sand trap! After all of this we still made it to the base in time to see the Blue Angels fly!
Bus Driver Bob and the Sand Trap award. The award was made from the tow strap that started to fail attempting to pull out the bus. The strap was rated at 20,000 pounds. How much did that strap cost, Alan?
Back of the Bus
On the Boardwalk
The boardwalks at Big Lagoon were a lot of fun
We're stuffed. Thanks to the mess hall at NAS Pensacola! All of the Scouts enjoyed their meals. The food was good but possibly the biggest attraction was that they did not have to cook!
As you can see, Greenbar had a great time!
Run for your life!
Sunday Morning Church
Mike brought some of his World Jamboree goodies to show
OA Tap Out. Congratulations to our new OA candidates.
You want to know who's doing what, what jobs have to be done, where you can fit in? Visit our new Dirty Jobs link, and get ready to get dirty.
ASM Tim Shannon needs your pictures. These images will be used for the Troop website and for the Eagle DVD that is given at Eagle Courts of Honor. Are you into scrap booking? Let Claudia or I know. We can make you a CD or DVD spanning your Scouts tenure with 204.
But don't stop there! I also need ANY Troop pictures you have not shared. For immediate use, I need pictures from the Warner Robins campout. What about the Cloudland Canyons trip? Do you have pictures of our campsite, the pig, the hike or the campfire? Thanks in advance for your help. Contact me at hungryscout@mindspring.com

Warning to all Scouts! The State of Georgia's Zero Tolerance Law can put you at risk! Scouts and parents, be sure to double and triple check all book bags, back packs, pockets and cars after any Scouting event. If a knife or other "weapon" gets carried onto school property you can be arrested and charged with a FELONY! Be prepared, don't let this happen to you! Troop 204 requires all Scouts to earn their Totin' Chip before they can use a knife, hand axe or bow saw. These items are viewed as necessary tools for enjoying the great outdoors. Just do not let them go to school with you.
In November, Troop 204 will be going on their annual "Shooting Campout". This is one of our favorite campouts with opportunities to shoot rifles and shotguns under the guidance of our NRA Certified Instructors. Did you know that if a Scout, picks up a fired cartridge as a souvenir and it ends up in his pocket at school, HE CAN BE EXPELLED? This is a piece of inert brass, it is no longer a bullet. It can no longer hurt anyone except our Scouts if it goes to school with them. It is important that our Scouts learn how to safely handle firearms in this day and time. It is also important that the parents make sure that this does not cause any problems for their Scouts at school.

In June of 2002, BSA Troop 204 went to our Talking Rock campsite and built a monkey bridge across Towne Creek. As you look at these pictures, you will see Scouts and Scouters that are no longer active in the Troop. You will also see quite a few familiar faces, although they are now five years older. What a difference five years makes! Click on the images below to view a larger picture.
The SM gives instructions in how to tie the knots. Another 'how-to' session Older boys teach younger boys lashing Work in process Adjusting and Fine Tuning Jason adjusting the stays Corey sitting down on the job That's doing it the hard way! Now the fun begins. High, isn't it? Long way down! Do you recognize one of your Quartermasters? Getting across the creek used to be a lot easier! This bridge wash out by rain so heavy that it caused flooding. Hard to believe when we are in the midst of a drought. Bill Barber Wading in Towne Creek Bear Headquarters Some things never change Sean S and Austin C. Ain't they cute? Bill Barber's camping in style Troop Leader Council Do you know what this is? What a nice fire Going to church Scout's Own Scoutmaster fords the creek
The Talking Rock property has been put up for sale by the owner. We are very grateful that he has allowed 204 to use it over the last several years. Since we do not know how much longer we will have access to this property, TLC decided to change January's campout from Red Top Mountain to Talking Rock and to build another monkey bridge. The current plan is for everyone (Bears included) to camp across the creek.
Patrol Leaders, talk up this this campout in your Patrols. This was a fantastic campout in 2002 and promises to be even better for 2008.
Our next scheduled campout to Talking Rock is in November 2007 when we will hold 204's annual shooting campout. Everyone needs to be on the lookout for an appropriate place to hold this outing in the event that Talking Rock is not available.
