The MIGHTY MIGHTY BEARS

The Bear Patrol is made up of the active adult leaders of Troop 204. We believe in the patrol method and the Bears serve as the "model" BSA patrol. You will know if someone is a member of the Bear Patrol by the proud singing of the Patrol Song, "We are the Mighty Bears".

What are the BEAR Necessities?

The Scout Law,  Scout Oath, and a Good Attitude

Summer Camp 2007 at Camp Comer. What a great time. But there was a mystery. Early in the week, our illustrious patrol leader was called back to work. This was a huge mistake.

Unknown to Mike, insidious Wood Badges forces were at work. A fox began to work his sly wiles on the patrol. Somehow with Pete slaving over a new Bear Patrol Flag, a patrol name change began to be bandied about. This could only happen in a patrol missing it's patrol leader. The assistant patrol leader stepped in to lead the way, but he was soon lured over to the dark side. Faced with widespread unrest and secret and dark fox magic, the valiant and courageous patrol adviser was unable to stem the flow.

By the time our patrol leader had returned, there were fox plans, fox plots and even fox barks all over the 204 campsite. In the first fall in after his return, our patrol leader learned of the risks of giving Bears written scripts when they had pens in their pockets. The mighty Bear cheer, was corrupted to "Be Prepared! We are prepared, mighty, mighty foxes. Arf."

Being a man of direct action, our patrol leader set out on a one man fox eradication campaign. Before he could even get started, the Phantom Phox struck. The patrol leader's prize eagle walking stick was vandalized. Fox ears suddenly appeared on the eagles head. Would these horrors never cease.

As if a man possessed, our patrol leader constructed the largest fox trap ever seen in Alabama. This monument to bamboo, twine and the art of lashing loomed ominously close to the troop fall in area. But to no avail. A small fox totem magically appeared on the revered Bear Patrol flag, Ronnie.

It all came to a head during Friday afternoon's fall in. Many members of the patrol were participating in a skit based on Gene Roddenberry's "Star Trek". As the skit drew to its climatic close, our Patrol Leader ran onto the bridge and ran off his loyal first officer, Mr. Spock. Later in the formation he announced the successful elimination of all of the fox influences.

He was wrong! Scarcely were the words out of his mouth when the SPL, an ASPL, the Quartermaster and the Hornet Patrol APL doffed their berets revealing fox ears.

As of this writing, it is unknown how far this fox heresy has spread. Only time will tell.

Our Patrol Leader with mutilated eagle

His faithful assistant, or are his initials PP?

Pete, slaving away on the new patrol flag.

Does this picture show the true identity of the Phantom Phox?

The innocent and faithful patrol advisor, working on the Bear Rocket.

Ronnie is showing a lot of wear and tear and needs to be replaced. A new design has been submitted and construction is in process. Pete has been slaving on the leather work and Tommy has made a new flag stave. Check back to see images of the completed flag

Bears' Song

We are the Mighty Mighty Bears

The Bravest, Greatest Mighty Bears

When we arrive, you'd better step aside

We are the Mighty Bear Patrol

The Hungry, Camping Bear Patrol

We come prepared to do our very Best

The Bear Patrol will always pass the rest,

We'll pass the test

WE ARE THE BEST!

Bears' Yell!
